FauxMenco Biography
FauxMenco are Catherine Capozzi and Rafi Sofer, translating their loud, adventurous, and experimental electric guitar worlds to the intimacy of nylon string guitars. A genre-bending acoustic guitar duo, FauxMenco pulls equally from rock, nuevo flamenco, and metal, crafting a sound that is at once fiery, cinematic, and unexpected. With a DIY ethos and deep reverence for the natural world, their music tells stories without words-reflecting themes of extinction, survival, and human impulse.
After a fiery set at the Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival (Mexico) in March 2025 an excited fan described the music as flamenco meets Tool.
The Boston Globe describes the duo as "flamenco flecked genre -benders"
